A Home Built on Commitment, Care, and Hope

Through the Family Welfare program, Edilma lovingly and responsibly took on the care of two young women who are now at the heart of her life: Luisa and Liseth. Her home has become a place of protection, stability, and constant dedication.

Luisa lives with cognitive and physical disabilities, conditions that require ongoing support for her mobility, development, and daily well-being. Liseth, in turn, has a mental disability that requires continuous psychological support and a stable environment to strengthen her emotional health.

Since 2018, the Steps of Hope – Pasos de Esperanza Foundation has walked alongside this family, providing comprehensive and sustained support over the years. Our assistance has included the donation of wheelchairs, access to psychological therapies, monthly grocery support to help sustain the household, and one of the most meaningful experiences for them: the gift of a trip to see the ocean—an unforgettable moment that brought joy, rest, and lasting memories.

Currently, Liseth continues to attend psychological therapy sessions to strengthen her emotional well-being, and the family receives monthly grocery assistance to help ease their financial burden and ensure more dignified living conditions.

The story of Edilma, Luisa, and Liseth reflects commitment and perseverance. It reminds us that consistent support transforms realities, and that when assistance is sustained over time, it builds a stronger foundation for stability, dignity, and hope.
