Maria Isabel
María Isabel is 11 years old and lives in Medellín with her mother, who has been her greatest support throughout this entire process. Some time ago, her life changed unexpectedly due to a traffic accident that severely injured her leg and eventually led to its amputation.
Despite this difficult situation, María Isabel has become an example of resilience and strength. Her smile is constant and contagious; every morning she wakes up with the same joy that defines her, brightening those around her with her positive energy. Her outlook on life is truly inspiring, as she doesn’t focus on limitations but instead finds reasons to be grateful and to share happiness in every conversation.
Currently, María Isabel is undergoing therapies that will help prepare her for the use of a prosthetic leg. This process opens the possibility for her to once again enjoy the activities she loves most, such as dancing and skating—two passions that motivate her to keep moving forward with enthusiasm and hope.
Her story reminds us that true strength does not lie in the physical, but in the ability to keep joy alive even in the face of the hardest challenges.
Emanuel Ruiz
Emanuel has been part of our story since he was just 3 years old, and throughout this time we’ve had the privilege of accompanying him on his journey. Today, at 10 years old, we joyfully celebrate how much he has progressed, showing every day his effort, perseverance, and incredible ability to overcome challenges.
He has now begun to take steps on his own, a tremendous achievement and a source of pride for everyone around him. Thanks to technological tools, he has also been able to express himself more easily through an application, allowing him to interact better with those who support him and to strengthen his communication with the world.
He lives in Medellín, where he continues his therapies consistently, including water therapy, which has been highly beneficial for his physical and emotional development.
We feel deeply grateful to continue walking alongside Emanuel, to witness each of his achievements, and to support him in this journey filled with hope, progress, and new opportunities.
Nicolas Orozco
This little boy’s story begins even before he was born. Unfortunately, the pregnancy did not receive the necessary attention or the required medical checkups.
When the time came for delivery, it was at that very moment that the family and the medical team learned about the situation. Sadly, this delay led to complications that significantly affected the baby’s health.
At birth, he was diagnosed with brain-related issues, as a little less than half of his brain does not respond actively. Today, at almost 2 years old, he faces several developmental challenges: he is not yet walking, cannot sit up on his own, and has not begun to speak. However, he has made important progress, such as holding his head up firmly and gradually strengthening his movements. He also has an eye deviation, which is part of the care and attention he continues to receive.
Despite these difficulties, his story highlights the importance of support, early stimulation, and the love he receives every day, as each small step forward represents a great victory for him and for everyone around him.
